Submission Guide

The European Journal of Political Philosophy practices a system of double-blind review. The identity of a manuscript’s author is not revealed to referees, nor are the identity of referees revealed to the author. Articles should be submitted via the portal on this website.

Submissions should be in Word or PDF format. All text should be double-spaced, including notes; pages should be numbered, and have margins of at least one inch on all sides. Footnotes are preferred to endnotes. Please use a 12-point font size for the main text, 10-point for footnotes. Please include an abstract of 100-200 words at the top of your paper and a word count. There is no set maximum word count; however, authors are discouraged from submitting articles that exceed 10,000 words unless the article evidently requires extraordinary length.

Submissions must be prepared for anonymous review; self-identifying references, and acknowledgments, should be removed. Self-citations should be in the third person; do not use phrases such as, “As I argued in 1997…” The journal does not accept submissions that are currently under consideration by another journal. Submissions must not have been published elsewhere, in part or whole.

Submissions either in British (-ise) or American (-ize) style are accepted; please use one style consistently. Every paragraph except the first paragraph of a new section should be indented. Use double quotation marks, except where “a quotation is ‘within’ a quotation.” Indent quotations above 60 words without quotation marks. Use the “traditional” form of citation, not author-date, with all bibliographical information in a note; do not append a list of references after the paper. For citations after the first, use a shortened version of the title and the author’s last name.

Book reviews: Unsolicited book reviews are not accepted. Publishers and authors wishing their books to be considered for review may email the Managing Editor at: editor@ejpp.org

EJPP AI Policy

Authors are strictly prohibited from using Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, including large language models and generative AI, to write any portion of their submitted manuscripts, whether in whole or in part. The intellectual content, argumentation, and prose must be the original work of the human author(s). Submissions found to have utilized AI for generating text will be rejected without review, and repeated violations may lead to a ban on future submissions
